DRAGONFLY COTTAGE
Dragonfly Cottage
I moved house and four weeks later we had really bad flooding, all of which was okay as it gave us the guide lines about the gardens and what not to do ha ha. We have been sowing new grass which is now starting to grow and the 9 palm trees in the yard are coming down this week which will be wonderful. We are at a standstill with the garden until the trees in the back yard removed and then its anchors away, as attractive as the palms are they make such a mess of the yard, are rather dangerous if your near them when they drop their pods or frons plus the ground ever seems to dry out. With all this in mind I was told the snakes will love the yard in the summer because it is dark and damp which of course was the cruncher when it came to making the decision of removing the trees.
The electrician replaced the power box at the house and had to fight his way through and around the forest near the house to do his work (yes I have photos which will be loaded) He has done a fantastic job as this little house is close to 80 years old and although the previous four owners have at different stages attempted to renovate the charm and character out of the place they did not succeed.
Michelle Jackson of New Zealand who is an interior designer (fantastic at it too) came over for a week and did her magic with curtains, blinds, and rugs taking the house back to the era it came from and has managed to create a warm practical home leaving little to be done other than painting. Thanks Michelle.
We named the house DRAGONFLY COTTAGE which is lovely and seems to totally suit the place and hopefully over the coming of years we will be able to make the gardens a real talking point.
So now we begin with the house updates and photos.
